Avs beat Edmonton 3-0 on the Road. Anderson got the shut-out and Wolskie had two 3rd period goals to seal it. But the story was the Defense. Only 25 shots on goal for the Oilers. This is such an improved unit from last year. The only worry right now might be that back-up goalie Peter Budaj has the swine flu. Not only bad because Anderson will need a rest at some point, but no way we want that thing going around the locker room (especailly considering the Nuggets share that building).

Is anyone in Denver paying attention to these guys?

Really – this is kind of incredible. Beating Montreal on the road while they celebrate their 100th Home Opener. Click the link to load ESPN re-cap and watch the highlights.

Ryan O'Reilly

Ryan O'Reilly

One of the 18 year old Centers – O’Reilly – the less celebrated and lower drafted one (Duchene – yea – like the Omaha school I think – is the other) got his first goal (a sweet stick with it type of rebound play) after a solid start to the season.

Anderson was again really strong in net.

Also – the coach’s name is Joe Sacco – which is close enough to Joe Sakic that we are sure to see some type of headline pun soon.

Start paying attention boys (and girls?) this is going to be a fun team to follow.
